About Me

My name is Collin Mirsky. I am not a "rockstar" or "ninja" at anything. I do my best at everything and realize that there is always more to learn.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems. I spent approximately 3-4 years developing C# ASP.NET web applications and a little more working web design projects (HTML, CSS, Javascript).

I have always enjoyed working with computers, and I love the hardward side of things too. I built my home PC and a home theater PC for streaming online content to my TV. I also enjoy writing / recording music and running an eBay store.

My Experience

C# ASP.NET Application Development (3-4 years)

  • The software I developed was mostly for government agencies like the SDSFIE, GSA, VA, and other departments of NIBS.
  • These applications were predominately building plan evaluation systems or tools for geospatial data manipulation.
  • I used C# and the ASP.NET framework, lots of jQuery, and SQL Server for my databases on these projects.
  • I've spent time managing Windows Servers, using IIS to set up websites, and other IT tasks like database management and troubleshooting.

Web Design HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT (4-5 years)

  • I've been actively exploring web design for years. I use the design skills I have learned on pretty much everything I do from application development to coding up an eBay auction template.
  • I know the basics of the Adobe Suite and like to code HTML, CSS, and Javascript by hand.
  • I enjoy working with jQuery and the new features HTML5 has to offer.
  • I like CLEAN and SIMPLE designs.

E-Commerce, Music, and Other Stuff (forever)

  • I've been buying and selling on eBay and other online marketplaces since 1999. I love making sales and consider myself very familiar with the ins and outs of selling online.
  • I am a musician. I record original songs at home on my PC using a variety of audio software tools.
  • I have a creative mind, a fairly broad skillset, and I am always willing to learn more.

Portfolio

Most of the projects I've worked on recently have been government applications. Those are all running on internal servers, and I'm not really allowed to show them to you. It's also been a while since I've done much freelance work, meaning most of the projects I worked on are now either gone or embarrassingly outdated. However, there are a couple worth noting.

Home InstinctsHome Instincts - I worked on the design of this site using the BigCommerce platform. I did a lot of CSS styling, jQuery, and even some php modification on the backend.

MPI OIL TOOLSMPI Industries, Inc. - I designed this site from the ground up. I used some ASP.NET for the simple catalog browsing. Some things have changed since my initial design, but the framework is still here.

Old Flash SitePersonal Flash Site - This one is REALLY old, and I don't do flash work anymore. However, I still like to share it because I think it shows off my creative leaning.
